Getting Started with Howdy AI for Sandboxes
Open a sandbox in the editor and click the stars icon in the header to open Howdy AI. Describe what you want to change, or choose one of the suggested prompts.
Sandbox editor chat is currently available to selected organizations. If the stars icon is missing, contact us through the in-app chat to ask about access.
Quick-start prompts
In a new chat, you will see four suggested tasks:
- Anonymize PII replaces identifying names, companies, contact details, and sensitive values with consistent alternatives.
- Blur or hide UI helps you hide, blur, or restore elements such as rows, cards, and menu items.
- Edit UI updates captured text, input placeholders, and field values.
- Translate UI translates editable text throughout the sandbox into your chosen language.
You can also ask Howdy AI to rename screens, manage groups, or fix navigation links.
Choosing which screens to edit
Howdy AI uses the screen you are viewing when you say “this screen” or “this page”. To work elsewhere, name the screen and its group, or say “throughout this sandbox” for a change across all screens.
For example:
On this screen, change the search placeholder to "Search customers".Some screens share the same captured page. A UI edit on one of those screens can also affect the others. Review Howdy AI’s explanation of which screens will change before confirming a request or accepting a batch.
Reviewing changes
The dropdown at the bottom of the chat controls how editor changes are applied:
- Ask before editing is the default. Review the proposed text replacements or the summary of changes to screens, groups, or links. Click Accept to apply the batch or Decline to skip it.
- Auto-apply edits applies suggestions as Howdy AI makes them. You can still inspect the changes in the chat and switch back to Ask mode at any time.
If a batch contains more than you wanted, decline it and ask for a narrower change. Howdy AI can prepare another suggestion for a named screen, group, or piece of text.
Continuing a conversation
You can close and reopen the sidebar without losing your conversation. Use the chat dropdown at the top to return to a previous editor chat, or click New chat to start another.
Sandbox conversations count toward your organization’s AI usage allowance. If you reach the limit, the chat links you to the AI Usage page .
