Anonymize Data

Use Howdy AI to replace identifying information in the captured UI with sample data. The Anonymize PII prompt looks for names, companies, contact details, and sensitive values, and asks for consistent replacements throughout the sandbox.

Replacing identifying information

1. Open Howdy AI and click Anonymize PII, or describe the information you want to replace.
2. Tell it which values should stay unchanged, such as your own product name, and whether the request covers the whole sandbox or specific screens.
3. With Ask before editing selected, review the proposed replacements and click Accept or Decline for each batch.

For example:

Replace customer names, company names, and email addresses throughout this sandbox with fictional values. Use the same replacement every time a value appears. Keep our product name "Northstar" unchanged.

For exact control over the sample data, provide a CSV or TXT mapping of original values and replacements.

Reviewing your sandbox

Preview the screens you plan to share and check that the replacements are consistent and that no identifying details were missed. Pay attention to tables, contact cards, and input fields as well as page headings.

This workflow replaces editable captured text. For identifying details in images, use the image editor. If you want to obscure a whole row, card, or menu item, ask Howdy AI to hide or blur it.
