Exporting GIFs and Videos

HowdyGo makes it easy to export your interactive demos as GIFs and videos, allowing you to share product walkthroughs on social media, email, or internal documentation. For interactive sharing, you can also distribute demos via share links or embed them on your website.

You can customize your exports to match your needs, including resolution, cursor style, and annotations.

Export Options

When exporting a demo, you can choose from the following formats:

• Email (.gif) – A minified looping GIF ideal for email campaigns.
• Social/Web (.webm) – An HD looping video optimized for platforms like LinkedIn and X.
• Raw (.mp4) – An HD video suitable for all other use cases.

Resolution

Every export can be generated at 720p, 1080p, or 4K. 720p is available on every plan; 1080p and 4K require a paid plan.

Locked resolutions show an upgrade badge that links to billing. Your resolution choice is remembered in your browser for next time.

Customizing Your Exports

✏️ Edits in Exports

When exporting your interactive demos in HowdyGo, all edits are preserved in the final exported format. Interactions are not.

• Annotations – Annotation overlays can be included in your exports. This requires a Pro or Enterprise plan.
• HTML Edits – Any text changes or modifications made using the HTML editor will be preserved.
• Blurs and Hides – Elements you’ve blurred or hidden will remain edited in the final export, ensuring sensitive or unnecessary content is removed.
• Zooms and Scrolls - Any zoom and scroll positions applied during the recording or editing of the demo will be included in the export.

These enhancements help you create high-quality exports that maintain the clarity and intent of your interactive demo.

⏱️ Auto-Progress Timing

Use Auto-Progress timing to set transition speeds between steps before exporting. Exports apply any step-level overrides to the timing of the final video. The publication’s speed setting only applies to interactive playback, not to GIF or video exports.

🖱️ Cursor Style Selection

Choose how the cursor appears in your export:

• Ripple – Shows the same click ripple used in your demo’s annotations instead of a cursor.
• Dynamic – Automatically switches between a pointer and hand cursor to indicate interactions.
• Default – Displays a standard pointer cursor without changes.
• None – Removes the cursor completely for a clean visual experience.

How to Export

1. Open the demo you want to export.
2. Click the Share button in the top-right corner of the editor.
3. Toggle Publish to enable sharing options.
4. Scroll to the Export GIF/Video section at the bottom of the modal.
5. Select your preferred format:
   • Email (.gif) – A minified looping GIF for email campaigns.
   • Social/Web (.webm) – An HD looping video optimized for LinkedIn and X.
   • Raw (.mp4) – An HD video suitable for all other use cases.
6. Choose your Resolution: 720p, 1080p, or 4K. 1080p and 4K are grayed out with an upgrade badge if your plan doesn’t unlock them yet.
7. Select your Cursor Style: Ripple, Dynamic, Default, or None.
8. Toggle Include annotations if you want annotation overlays baked into the export (Pro and Enterprise plans).
9. Click Export to generate and download your file.
