Attio (Pro & Enterprise Only)

The Attio integration provides comprehensive CRM functionality for lead management and engagement tracking:

  1. API Integration with Lead Capture - Full CRM integration with person and company record management, automatic attribute creation, and rich activity notes
  2. Real-Time Synchronization - Instant updates to your Attio workspace when leads interact with your demos
  3. Custom Attribute Tracking - Automatic creation and maintenance of demo engagement attributes for reporting and workflow automation

API Integration with Lead Capture

The Attio API integration provides seamless lead management and engagement tracking. To configure the integration head to https://app.howdygo.com/settings/integrations .

Contact Management & Form Processing

  • Automatic Person Record Creation/Updates: Person records are automatically created or updated when leads interact with demos or submit forms
  • Email-based Lookup: Contacts are identified and retrieved using email addresses
  • Company Record Management: Automatically creates company records and links them to person records when company information is provided
  • Intelligent Name Handling: Automatically splits full names into first and last name fields
  • Data Validation: Ensures data integrity before syncing to Attio
  • Real-Time Sync: All interactions are immediately reflected in your Attio workspace

Important: The HowdyGo integration never overwrites existing contact details in Attio. If a person record already exists, we only update demo-specific custom attributes and create new activity notes. All existing contact information (name, phone, company, etc.) remains unchanged. New person records are only created when an email address doesn’t exist in your Attio workspace.

Lead Capture Forms

Within the editor experience, you can create Lead Capture forms with the following fields:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Company
  • Country
  • Custom fields (via dynamic replacements)

When a lead fills in the form, the API integration automatically:

  1. Creates or updates the person record in Attio
  2. Creates or links company records when company information is provided
  3. Generates rich activity notes with markdown formatting
  4. Updates custom attributes with relevant demo and engagement data

Activity Notes

Activity notes are automatically created when a lead submits a form and are associated with the person record. These notes use markdown formatting for better readability and include:

  • Clickable Demo Links: The demo title is formatted as a clickable link that takes you directly to the demo’s share page
  • Demo Details: Comprehensive information about the demo viewed, including title, folder organization, and submission URL
  • Form Data: All captured form fields formatted in an easy-to-read structure
  • Timestamps: Automatic tracking of when the interaction occurred

The notes provide complete context for your sales team, enabling personalized follow-up conversations with all the relevant information at their fingertips.

Custom Person Attributes

The integration automatically creates and maintains custom attributes on person records to track demo engagement. These attributes are created on-demand when first needed, so no manual setup is required:

  • Last HowdyGo Submission Date (Timestamp): The exact date and time when the contact last viewed a demo
  • Last HowdyGo Demo Title (Text): The title of the most recent demo they interacted with
  • Last HowdyGo Demo ID (Text): Unique identifier for tracking specific demo performance
  • Last HowdyGo Submission URL (Text): The exact URL where the form was submitted, useful for attribution tracking
  • Last HowdyGo Folder Name (Text): The organizational folder containing the demo, helpful for content categorization
  • Last HowdyGo Lead Capture Data (Text): All form field data captured during the demo interaction, formatted for easy review

These attributes enable powerful reporting and workflow automation in Attio. You can:

  • Create workflows that trigger based on demo engagement
  • Segment contacts by which demos they’ve viewed
  • Analyze which content generates the most qualified leads
  • Build custom reports and dashboards
  • Automate follow-up sequences based on specific demo interactions

Automatic Attribute Management: The integration automatically creates these custom attributes when they’re first needed. You don’t need to manually configure anything in Attio - the integration handles all the setup for you.

Company Record Linking

When a lead provides company information, the integration:

  1. Searches for an existing company record in Attio by name
  2. Creates a new company record if one doesn’t exist
  3. Automatically links the person record to the company
  4. Maintains proper relationship mapping in your CRM

This ensures your Attio workspace accurately reflects the organizational structure of your leads, making it easier to identify account-level opportunities and coordinate team-based sales efforts.

Setup

To set up the Attio integration, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that you have sufficient permissions in your Attio workspace to approve OAuth integrations and create custom attributes.

  2. Go to the HowdyGo settings page  and click the “Connect” button for the Attio integration.

  3. You will be redirected to Attio to approve the integration. HowdyGo requires the following OAuth scopes:

    • Record Permission (Read-Write): To create and update person and company records, and to update custom attributes
    • Object Configuration (Read): To check for existing attributes and understand the structure of your Attio workspace
    • Notes (Read-Write): To create activity notes associated with person records
  4. Once you have approved the integration, you will be redirected back to the HowdyGo settings page .

  5. The integration will automatically:

    • Establish a secure connection between HowdyGo and your Attio workspace
    • Begin syncing demo interactions immediately
    • Create custom attributes on-demand as needed

That’s it! You have successfully set up the Attio integration. The system will automatically begin creating person records, activity notes, and managing custom attributes for all demo interactions.

Troubleshooting

Integration Not Syncing

If you notice that demo interactions aren’t appearing in Attio:

  1. Verify that the integration is still connected in your HowdyGo settings
  2. Check that the OAuth permissions were granted correctly in Attio
  3. Ensure your Attio workspace has API access enabled
  4. Review the integration status in HowdyGo settings for any error messages

Custom Attributes Not Appearing

The integration creates custom attributes automatically when they’re first needed. If you don’t see them:

  1. Wait for a demo interaction to occur - attributes are created on-demand
  2. Check that your Attio workspace has the necessary permissions to create attributes
  3. Verify that the integration has the “Object Configuration (Read)” scope
